THE AREA RESOURCE FILE

QRS has developed, maintained and expanded the Area Resource File (ARF) for over 15 years under a series of competitive procurements. This system contains over 6,000 health and demographic data elements at various geographic levels (nation, state, county, and independent city). It is available for purchase in multiple formats. In addition, QRS provides personalized datasets, analyses, and other support. Data for many variables are available from the late 1970's. Additional information can be found at www.arfsys.com.

DATABASE DEVELOPMENT

QRS provides data resource and database development services for a range of government and private sector clients. QRS develops and hosts web-based databases as well as traditional systems accessible with MS Access, SAS, and other statistical software packages.

HEALTH CARE ANALYSIS

QRS has a strong record of providing targeted analyses of US health sector.  Working with federal and state governments as well as universities and private clients, QRS has produced reports, data books, statistical analyses, GIS analyses, data sets, and presentations on key health issues including reproductive health, oral health, and achievement of Healthy People 2010 objectives.  Products have ranged from local and state levels, to nation-wide efforts.

MAPPING AND GIS ANALYSIS

QRS has expertise in GIS analyses to assist researchers, policy makers and health care professionals.  By defining key variables of interest and producing meaningful GIS analyses, clients can gain a better understanding of their data and can visually represent the relationship between key variables.  Examples of QRS' GIS analyses:

Analysis of Unintentional Injury Deaths in West Virginia, 2002

2002 Tuberculosis Rates by Race, California

WOMEN'S AND MINORITY HEALTH

QRS has expertise in women's and minority health issues.  QRS has developed and currently maintains Quick Health Data Online and have provided analytical expertise to a number of state and federal clients in this area.  QRS's work has included collecting, analyzing and disseminating data, defining health status indicators, assessing data relative to Healthy People 2010 goals, and providing training, support and technical assistance to data users.  In addition, QRS has prepared a regional report on the health status of women and minority populations for each of the 10 DHHS Regions.

HEALTHY PEOPLE 2010 ASSESSMENT

QRS has helped a variety of clients in understanding and assessing progress toward Healthy People 2010 goals and objectives.  In this regard, staff has processed and analyzed data related to natality, mortality, prevention, and chronic and infectious diseases to assess the extent to which Healthy People targets have been met.

PROGRAM EVALUATION

QRS has evaluated Title VII of the Public Health Service Act, related to the provision of primary care to underserved populations.  The program provides funds to medical schools and medical residency programs to promote the selection of primary care specialties by physicians and to encourage physicians to choose practice locations that serve targeted populations.  Each active physician was tracked from medical school through up to six residency training programs to their current practice location.  Title VII-exposed physicians were compared to physicians not exposed to the program to determine the extent to which Title VII exposure impacted decisions related to practice specialty and location choice.
